Picking a wedding venue is SOO exciting and party a little stressful all at the same time. We get it & we want to help, below are four tips to consider and think about before committing to anything.
1.Determine your budget.
We get it, talking about money and setting a limit is often hard but it also plays a HUGE role in the overall cost of your wedding. Venue rentals vary and you both should have a conversation of what you are willing to spend before heading out to tour.
2. Consider your guest count.
Another huge factor here, as the venue you pick needs to fit all of your guests. As planners we often hear ‘if I want 200 guests to come, how many should I invite?’ We are in the mindset that you should invite those family & friends who you can imagine spending the day without. That number might be 50 or 350 but either way you want to know ahead of time so you can go into venue tours prepared. Keep in mind when venues say max capacity, that is often all the space and not including any dance floor room so if you are like us and love to boogie, we suggest planning for 50 guests under the max.
3. Think about what is included.
Every venue is different but this is something to ask before signing for sure! Sometimes food and beverage is included but not part of the rental price. Other times you pay for the venue and bring in everything from linens and silverware to flowers and decor. It helps to know what is included so you can plan accordingly.
4. Stay true yourselves.
This is probably the most important and our favorite! Remember WHY you are getting married in the first place and keep that in the forefront of your minds. If getting married outside is at the top of your priority list then look for a venue with a patio or roof covering in case of inclement weather. Most importantly have fun!
