First, ask your wedding planner if they know of the perfect venue that will allow you to include your fur baby on your special day.
Not working with a wedding planner yet that’s ok, begin by picking out your top five wedding venues. You can check out your venue’s website or simply call and ask if they allow pets. It is important to find out their requirements for including pets in your ceremony such as Leash rules, potty areas, can they come to the reception, Etc.
Maybe your still looking for inspiration and just haven’t found the perfect venue yet, but don’t worry here are a few Pet friend recommendations.
You’d be surprised at how many venues have become pet-friendly for their couples. Typically they ask the animal to stay on a leash and be supervised at all times. Some venues also ask that the pet be taken home after the couple gets their pictures done. This is so that they don’t cause any problems during the reception and sometimes animals around food service are a big no-no.
If the venue you selected has on-site lodging, ask if your animal can stay the night. Having a designated person check on the pet throughout the evening is a must, after all, pets need potty breaks too.
If your pet does need to go back home after the ceremony, consider hiring a local dog walker to pick up your pet from the wedding venue and take them home, after post-ceremony photos with them of course! This is our suggestion over asking a family member or friend to leave the wedding to take the pet home.
We love seeing animals at weddings and the joy it brings our couples. This couple called out to their dog Sammy before walking down the aisle as Mr & Mrs and instead chose to walk down with Sammy too!
